Fertilizer Supply in Danger as European Plants to Cut Ammonia Production

Karachi January 18 2023: Pakistan second largest fertilizer manufacture to resume limited operations of its Potash plant for 8 days after remaining close for two months, according to company filing at exchange.

On November 23, 2022, Engro Fertilizers Limited disclosed the closure of its plant situated at Port Qasim, which produces specialty fertilizers with annual capacity of ~150KT, till January 18, 2023.

The Company wishes to announce that the Plant will resume limited operations from January 19, 2023 to January 26, 2023 (both days inclusive) to meet the projected demand for one of the grades manufactured at the Plant. Thereafter, the Plant is expected to be shut down from January 27, 2023 till February 28, 2023 (both days inclusive) to more efficiently manage its inventory and production.


Engro Fertilizers Limited is a public company incorporated in Pakistan on June 29, 2009 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Engro Corporation Limited (the Holding Company), which is a subsidiary of Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited (the Ultimate Parent Company). The Company is engaged in the manufacturing, purchasing and marketing of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides and providing logistics services.
