Karachi May 18 2023: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 12, 2023, were down by USD 72 million to USD 4,312 million as per data released by the Central Bank.
SBP reserves decrease due to external debt repayment, according to Central Bank statement.
At present, SBP reserves stand at the level of USD 4,312 million as of 12th May 2023 compared to USD 4,383 million at the end of the week ending 7th May 2023.
During the same period, foreign exchange reserves held by commercial banks increased by USD 19 million to the level of USD 5,626 million as of 12th May 2023.
Overall reserves held by the country witnessed a decrease of USD 53 million to USD 9,938 million during the week ending 12th May 2023.
