Islamabad June 7 2022: A meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to restore Saturday's holiday.
According to sources, the federal cabinet meeting considered various ways to overcome load shedding and the working group comprising ministers presented recommendations including five days a week in government offices, one day work from home, streets and Recommendations included the closure of street lights in public places and the early closure of commercial markets.
The cabinet was also recommended to reduce the fuel quota of government officials by 33%.
According to sources, the federal cabinet has approved the resumption of Saturday's holiday, but the decision to close the markets at 7 pm could not be taken to overcome the energy crisis.
The cabinet has decided to form a sub-committee on closing of markets at 7 am, which will formulate recommendations after consulting traders.
The Cabinet also approved the report of the Election Commission for the year 2021 and the decisions of the Economic Co-ordination Committee dated June 3.
