Karachi June 9, 2022: Rupee gained in the interbank for the second day by 75 paise against the dollar on Thursday to close the trading at Rs 200.76, according to data published by the State Bank of Pakistan.
Yesterday, the dollar closed at Rs 201.5214. On the other hand, in the open market, the rupee strengthened by Rs 1.6 to Rs 202.5.
Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan General Secretary Zafar Paracha said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed the SBP to take action against banks involved in speculation, which had led to a significant decline in the dollar’s rate and stabilization of the exchange rate.
Two days earlier, SBP in a statement said, “Foreign currency accounts including Roshan Digital Accounts are protected under Foreign Currency Accounts (Protection) Ordinance, 2001 and GoP and SBP are committed to protect all financial assets in Pakistan including the ones mentioned above”
