Islamabad March 1 2024: Pakistan's inflation recorded at 23.1 percent during February 2024 the lowest level since June 2022 due to cool down in food prices, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Food prices during the month fall by 1.6 percent, however prices are still above 7.17 percent when compared with the previous year.
Country’s CPI general increased to 23.1 percent on year-on-year basis in February 2024 as compared to an increase of 28.3 percent in the previous month and 31.5 percent in February 2023. On month-on-month basis, no change observed in February 2024 as compared to an increase of 1.8 percent in the previous month and an increase of 4.3 percent in February 2023.
Inflation in Urban areas increased to 24.9 percent on year-on-year basis in February 2024 as compared to an increase of 30.2 percent in the previous month and 28.8 percent in February 2023. On month-on-month basis, it increased to 0.2 percent in February 2024 as compared to an increase of 1.8 percent in the previous month and an increase of 4.5 percent in February 2023.
Inflation in Rural areas increased to 20.5 percent on year-on-year basis in February 2024 as compared to an increase of 25.7 percent in the previous month and 35.6 percent in February 2023. On month-on-month basis, it decreased to 0.3 percent in February 2024 as compared to an increase of 1.9 percent in the previous month and an increase of 4.0 percent in February 2023
