Islamabad May 8 2023: In the meeting presided over by Chairman Public Accounts Committee Noor Alam Khan, the issue of assets in excess of income against Justice Mazahir Naqvi was considered, in which 13 out of 14 members of the committee supported hearing the case of Justice Mazahir Naqvi.

The committee summoned the entire record of Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi within 15 days. The chairman of the committee said that this is not an issue of Justice Mazahar or any XY, it is an issue of corruption. If someone does not attend the next meeting, a summons will be issued.

The committee also sought the travel records of Justice Mazahar Naqvi.

The chief secretaries of the four provinces did not participate in the meeting, on which the chairman of the committee, Noor Alam Khan, said that the bureaucracy is thinking that this is a fight between the judiciary and the government, so they should not participate in the meeting, which is not the case.'

"We have the details of the assets that are declared," FBR officials told PAC's query.

Public Accounts Committee member Burgis Tahir said that the issue of Justice Mazahir Naqvi's assets has come to us. In the next meeting, all the members should have that record, while the reference that has been entered against them should also be called for.

Mohsin Aziz, a senator and member of the committee belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, opposed the investigation of Justice Mazahir Naqvi.

He said that 'We should first see whether this is the mandate of this committee or not.' He said that the case of Justice Mazahar Naqvi has come to you. Does the government not have institutions? Bringing this issue here in PAC means we are doing politics, and our shoulders are being used.

It should be noted that a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee was convened regarding the investigation of the alleged assets of Supreme Court judge Justice Mazahir Akbar Naqvi, in which the committee summoned Chief Secretary Punjab and Secretary Interior.

On May 4, the National Assembly had sent the issue of assets of Justice Mazahir Akbar Naqvi to the Public Accounts Committee. In today's meeting, Chairman NAB, DG FIA, Chairman CDA, Chairman FBR were also summoned.
