Islamabad May 14 2024: The Islamabad High Court has issued an injunction regarding the blocking of mobile SIMs used by non-filers and has stopped Pakistan Telecommunication from blocking SIMs till May 27.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq has issued this injunction on the request of a private company providing mobile services regarding the blocking of mobile SIMs of non-filers by the government.
Advocate Salman Akram Raja appeared in the court on behalf of the private mobile company and argued that the amendment in the law is against the fundamental right to freedom of business under Article 18 of the Constitution.
A request was made by the petitioner to stop the execution of the matter, which the court accepted and issued a notice to the party made in this petition.
It should be noted that the government had decided to block the mobile SIMs used by people who are not paying tax to increase the scope of the tax, after which the companies providing mobile services expressed their concerns on this move of the government.
