Karachi March 17 2022: Foreign direct investment (FDI) during February 2022 witnessed net inflow USD 91 million, down by 34 percent YoY compared to net inflow of USD 137 million during February 2021.
During 8MFY22, FDI increased by 6 percent YoY to USD 1,257 million.
During February 2022, net inflow from China witnessed at USD 24.1 million followed by USD 20 million from Norway.
China’s share in FDI remained the highest investors with a share of 31 percent during first eight months of financial year 2022 to USD 385 million compared with USD 523 million during same period last year. Net inflow from United States remained at USD 175 million during first eight months of financial year 2022 compared with USD 84 million during same period last year.
During February 2022, major outflow was witnessed from Netherlands of USD 18.4 million. Net outflow of USD 8.6 million is witnessed from Philippines during first eight months of financial year 2022 followed by USD 6.9 million from Japan and USD 6.6 million from Bahamas.
During 8MFY22, net inflow in power sector remained USD 430 million followed by Financial Business Sector (USD 275 million) and Communications Sector (USD 185 million).
In Power sector, during 8MFY22 net inflow in Coal based power plants reached to USD 261 million compared to net inflow of USD 349 million during same period last year.
Beverages and Petroleum Refining sector witnessed a net out flow of USD 23.3 million and USD 19 million during first eight months of financial year 2022, respectively.
