Islamabad October 29 2023: The initial flight, out of a total of 12, has arrived in the UK from Pakistan, carrying 132 Afghan migrants.
After the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, thousands of people working for the British government there were waiting to go to Britain in Pakistan. These individuals include interpreters working for the British forces and teachers at the British Council.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the British government has chartered 12 flights to bring Afghans to the UK between now and the end of December.
These people were asked to go to Pakistan for visas, but welfare organizations say they have been waiting in Pakistan for over a year and many have expired visas.
It should be remembered that earlier this month, the Pakistani government announced that they will start deporting Afghan immigrants living illegally in Pakistan back to Afghanistan from November 1.
