London September 9 2023: Britain experienced its warmest day of the year thus far on Saturday, as confirmed by the national weather service, with preliminary measurements indicating a peak temperature of 32.7 degrees Celsius (90.9 degrees Fahrenheit) at Heathrow airport.
This year’s prior peak temperature occurred at 32.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
The Met Office noted that Saturday marked the sixth consecutive day that the UK registered temperatures surpassing 30 degrees Celsius, significantly exceeding the typical seasonal averages.
The Met Office reported last week that Britain had encountered its eighth warmest summer since 1884.
June saw record-breaking heat in the country, while July turned out to be wet, and August brought a mix of weather conditions.
In July 2022, Britain reached an unprecedented milestone with its hottest recorded day, as temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius for the first time.
