Islamabad November 7 2022: During the hearing of the contempt of court case against PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Supreme Court has ordered to register the FIR of the murderous attack on Imran Khan within 24 hours.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal ordered the IG Punjab to file an FIR within 24 hours and said that if the FIR is not filed, he will take notice on his own.
Earlier, during the hearing of the case, Imran Khan’s lawyer said that his client had been attacked, on which the Chief Justice remarked that an FIR must have been registered if this incident had happened.
During the hearing, Punjab Police chief IG Police from Lahore Registry was present on video link and the court asked the IG to tell why the FIR was not registered.
The Chief Justice said that tell us the time till which the FIR will be filed.
On this IG Punjab said we spoke to Chief Minister Punjab to file an FIR of the incident, Chief Minister Punjab has expressed some concerns. IG Punjab told the court that one person has died in this incident. An FIR should be registered on the complaint of the relatives of this incident as well.
On this, the Chief Justice said, “Don’t tell us what options the police have, we are not taking notice at this time.” The Chief Justice said that provision of criminal justice system is our first priority.
The head of the five-member bench of the Supreme Court said that there should be a solid reason for not registering the case. He ordered the Chief of Punjab Police to act according to the law and the court is with you.
The Chief Justice asked the IG Punjab to investigate the officers and no one will interfere in your work as long as you are in office.
The Chief Justice said that IG sir, if someone interferes in your work, the court will interfere in his work.
