Jeddah March 30 2022: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia qualified for a sixth World Cup finals appearance after a 1-0 win at home to Australia ensured their place at the tournament in Qatar with a triumph Tuesday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, as part of the 10th and final round of the final Asian qualifiers for 2022 World Cup.
The Saudi team entered the match with the desire to win the top of the group, after Japan and Vietnam tied earlier on Tuesday.
Salem Al-Dosari scored the only goal of the match in the 65th minute from a penalty kick. With this result, the Saudi team topped Group 2 with 23 points, followed by the Japanese team with 21 points, and the Australian team with 15 points, while Oman won 14 points, the Chinese team 6 points, and then Vietnam 4 points at the bottom of the group.
