Lahore July 30 2022: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s candidate Wasiq Qayyum has been elected unopposed as the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly after the PML-N and its allies boycotted the election of the Deputy Speaker.
It should be noted that last day, the motion of no confidence against the former Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari was successful, after which the seat of the Deputy Speaker became vacant.
PTI leader Raja Basharat said that the opposition received the nomination papers but no one came to submit the papers till 5 o’clock after which the victory of Wasiq Qayyum was announced by the Assembly Secretariat.
It should be noted that the opposition parties nominated Ali Haider Gilani as a candidate in the Punjab Assembly, but the PML-N and its allies boycotted the election of the Deputy Speaker.
