Karachi July 3 2024: Pakistan Peteroleum Limited announced a significant gas discovery in the Latif Block, Khairpur District, Sindh Province, according to the company filing to the exchange.
The exploratory well, Tor-1, operated by United Energy Pakistan Beta (UEP Beta) with a 33.40% working interest, alongside joint venture partners Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Prime Pakistan Limited, each holding a 33.30% working interest, has yielded promising results.
The well Tor-1, spud-in on May 5, 2024, successfully reached its target depth of 3,438 meters. Wireline log interpretations and Modular Formation Dynamic Tester (MDT) analysis indicated the presence of gas in the Intra-C Sand of the Lower Goru Formation. The well flowed at a rate of 11.27 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, with a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 1,424 pounds per square inch (PSI) on a 40/64” choke.
This discovery is expected to significantly bolster hydrocarbon reserves, enhancing the indigenous hydrocarbon supply and helping to mitigate the country’s gas demand. The operators and their joint venture partners are optimistic about the potential for further hydrocarbon reserves in the area.
