Islamabad March 5 2023: Islamabad Police has reached the residence of Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in Zaman Park to comply with the non-bailable arrest warrant issued in the Tosha Khana reference.
It may be recalled that on February 28, Addition Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal issued non-bailable warrants for him as he did not appear despite repeated court summons.
According to the notice of arrest warrant, notices were issued to Imran Khan to appear in court several times, but he did not appear despite repeated summons.
According to the court notice, the presence of Imran Khan should be ensured to ensure the future appearance in this case on March 7.
IG Islamabad Police Akbar Nasir has said that the Islamabad Police team is present at Zaman Park to arrest Imran Khan and not just to receive the warrant.
Talking to private TV channel Geo News, Akbar Nasir said that according to the law, the first step of non-bailable arrest warrant is to give notice to the accused and arrest him immediately after giving the notice. In response to a question, he said that people who are outside Zaman Park are requested not to interfere in the legal proceedings and not to take the law into their hands.
He further said that the intention of the law is that Imran Khan should be arrested as per the orders of the court and brought before the court on the appointed date. In case of resistance, one who obstructs the law takes the law into his hands and it is a separate offence.
