Islamabad June 13 2022: Pakistan is wasting $5 billion of gas annually due to system losses says Finance Minister of Pakistan Miftah Ismail in a Post Budget Press Briefing.
He says, “Sui Southern Gas Company Limited is incurring Unaccounted for Gas (UFG) losses of 20% which is equivalent to $200 million a month that accumulates to $2.4 billion on annual basis. Same amount of losses is experiencing by Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL).”
He added, “the total amount of subsidy paid to power sector was more than Rs 1,500 billion which is more than Defense budget of the country and Rs15-16 on per unit basis.”
