Islamabad June 2 2023: Pakistan trade deficit increased 142.91 percent during the month of May from USD 860 million, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
As per the latest data released, exports stood at USD 2,186 million while Imports were USD 4,275 million during May 2023.
The data showed that exports during May 2023 were 2.29 percent higher than exports of April 2023, while 16.69 percent lower compared to exports of May 2022.
The data showed that imports during May 2023 were 42.64 percent higher than imports of April 2023 and decreased by 36.76 percent compared to imports of May 2022.
Resultantly, Trade deficit decreased by 49.49 percent during the month of May 2023 when compared with data of the corresponding month last year.
Moreover, trade deficit also decreased by 40.59 percent during the period from July to May 2023 to USD 25,791 million when compared with data of the corresponding period last year.
Exports during the period from July to May 2023 decreased by 12.14 percent to USD 25,366 million when compared with the same period last year while imports during the same period decreased by 29.22 percent to USD 51,517 million.
