Islamabad September 1 2022: Pakistan trade deficit decreased 27 percent year on year to USD 3.2 billion based on data provided by FBR says Finance Minister Miftah Ismail.
According to FBR imports in August 2022 were recorded at USD 5.7 billion down 13 percent when compared with the same period last year. Energy imports were USD 2 billion increased 5 percent year on year while non-energy imports were down by 21 percent year on year to USD 3.6 billion. Encouragingly, exports were increased 13 percent during the month of August to 2.5 billion.
“Remittance were increased 2 percent during August 2022 to USD 2.7 billion. However, exports and remittance still shy of imports.” Pakistan’s Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said in a statement.
