Islamabad October 18 2022: The exports of textile commodities increased by 2.68 percent during the month of September 2022 as compared to the corresponding month of last year.
Textile exports increased by 2.68 percent in September 2022 to $1,527 million against exports of $1,487 million in September 2021.
On month-on-month (MoM) basis the textile exports went down by 3.07 percent in September 2022 when compared to the exports of $1,575 million in August 2022, according to the PBS data.
The textile commodities that contributed in trade growth included raw cotton the exports of which increased by 100 to $0.347 million during the month.
The other commodities that witnessed growth in trade included cotton cloth year, the exports of which grew by 7.23 percent to $203 million from $189 million and knit wear the trade of which increased by 12.46 percent, from $388 million to $436 million.
Likewise, the exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin increased by 18.26, from $8.9 million to $10.55 million, readymade garments by 0.25 percent, from $276 million to $277 million and art, towels by 8.16 percent, from $80.6 million to $87.7 million
The textile commodities that witnessed negative growth in trade included cotton yarn, the exports of which declined by 20.39 percent, from $95 million to $75 million.
The exports of cotton (carded or combed) declined by 80.9 percent, from $0.703 million to $0.134 million, yarn (other than cotton yarn) by 11.92 percent, from $4.6 million to $4.1 million, bedwear by 2.83 percent from $275 million to $265 million, madeup articles (excluding towels, bedwear) by .02 percent, from $64.07 million to $64.06 million, silk and synthetic textile by 3.39 percent from $38.7 million to $37.4 million while the exports of all other textile materials went down by 2.73 percent, from $65.2 million to $63.4 million.
The exports of textile commodities increased by 3.68 percent during the first three months of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding month of last year.
The textile exports were recorded at $4,583 million in July-September (FY2022-23) against the exports of $4,420 million in July-September (FY2021-22), showing growth of 3.68 percent, according to the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Tuesday.
It is pertinent to mention here that the overall merchandize exports from the country witnessed an increase of 1.54 percent during the first three months of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The overall exports from the country were recorded at $7.178 billion during July-September (2022-23) against the exports of $6.996 billion recorded during July-September (2021-22).
Based on the data, the trade deficit during the period July to September 2022 was recorded at $9.211 billion, showing a decrease of 21.32 percent over the deficit of $11.719 billion recorded during last year, the PBS data revealed.
