Karachi June 14 2023: The Government of Pakistan has directed SSGC, the company that supplies gas in southern region, to divert maximum volume of natural gas to the Power Sector due to the forecasted cyclone/ stormy conditions,
In compliance to the directives and considering the shortage of indigenous gas and non-availability of RLNG, SSGC would not be able to continue gas supplies to industrial sector including their captive power, Fertilizer and CNG with effect from 14 June 2023 morning till further orders.
Foregoing in view, companies are requested to shut-down your operations, enable gas supplier to divert the gas to Power Sector to avoid outage of electricity during cyclone or stormy conditions. Your cooperation and understanding is required in this matter.
Agritech Limited, urea plant that runs on imported RLNG, also shut its operations due to non-availability of flows. Country meets 20 percent of its gas requirements through imported RLNG that has been affected due to cyclone as ships facing difficulty in reaching port.
