Islamabad August 24 2023: On Thursday, the Supreme Court upheld its stay order preventing the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in connection with a lawyer’s murder case in Quetta.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial led the three-member bench that oversaw the petition regarding Imran Khan’s inclusion in the FIR.
During the course of proceeding, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail inquired that if the accused had joined the investigation as per the direction of the High Court. He remarked that the accused had to settle whether he would join the investigation or not.
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Latif Khosa Advocate, stated that his client would not appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) and argued against the application of anti-terrorism laws in this case involving the PTI Chairman.
The Chief Justice mentioned that the bench had more questions about the case but couldn’t address them without the complainant present.
It’s worth noting that on June 6, lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar was killed by unknown assailants in Quetta, with the slain lawyer’s son naming four individuals, including Imran Khan, in the FIR.
