Islamabad July 20 2021: President Dr Arif Alvi has underlined the need to boost trade, economic and cultural relations with the brotherly country of Iraq.
The President expressed these views while talking to Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Iraq, Mr Ahmed Amjad Ali, who called on him, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today.

While highlighting Pakistan’s increased focus on promoting regional connectivity, the President said that Pakistan’s policy had shifted from geopolitics to geoeconomics and Pakistan was making earnest efforts to increase trade and economic relations with regional countries. He asked the ambassador-designate to further promote trade and cultural ties with Iraq by focusing on the establishment of air and sea linkages between the two countries.

He emphasised that defence cooperation between the two countries needed to be further cemented and also asked the envoy to work for the facilitation and welfare of the Pakistani diaspora and Zaireen in Iraq and extend them all possible support and services. The President congratulated the envoy on his appointment as Pakistan’s ambassador to Iraq and expressed the hope that he would play his role to further promote bilateral ties between the two countries.
