Karachi September 27 2022: Pakistan Rupee appreciate for the third consecutive day and gains by PKR 3.44 against dollar in interbank trading as Ishaq Dar is expected to be appointed as a new Finance Minister amid commitment of flows from international financial institutions and relaxation in IMF program.
Pakistan Rupee appreciates Rupee 3.44 at PST 10:20am against dollar to trade at 233.58 in interbank. In the last three trading sessions Rupee gains PKR 6.07 against dollar.
In the open market Rupee is up by 3.5 to trade at 235 as PST 10:20am against yesterday closing of 238.5.
Ending five years of self-exile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz stalwart Ishaq Dar returned to Pakistan on Monday alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take over charge of the finance portfolio, which he has previously held on three occasions.
Talking to the PTV News, Dar said that the first priority for him was to get the country out of the “economic vortex” situation.
The dollar index on Tuesday eased 0.1% to 113.8, after earlier touching 114.58, its strongest against a basket of peer currencies since May 2002, reported by Reuters.
According to Reuters, Oil and gold nursed losses. Gold, which hit a 2-1/2 year low on Monday rose 0.5% to $1,629 an ounce. Oil lifted slightly from its lowest levels since January. U.S. crude ticked up 0.66% to $77.22 a barrel. Brent crude rose to $84.71 per barrel.
