Islamabad June 12 2024: Pakistan increases the rate of Capital Gain Tax on sale of securities to 45% for non-filers while removing the holding period concession for filers.
“In the current law, Capital Gains Tax on securities is levied based on the holding period for both taxpayers and non-taxpayers. It is proposed to change the Capital Gains Tax system on securities. After July 2024, it is proposed to impose 15% Capital Gain Tax for filers irrespective of their holding periods, while the rates for non-taxpayers could be as high as 45%.” States Finance Minister in its budget speech.
