Islamabad January 28 2025: Government of Pakistan is planning to issue country’s first sovereign green sukuk during the current quarter, disclosed the Chairman SECP at Al-Baraka Forum Regional Conference.
“I am pleased to share that Pakistan’s first sovereign hashtag#GreenSukuk is being issued, and we expect completion of the same in the first quarter of 2025” Akif Saeed stated.
Globally, the demand for ESG Sukuk is surging, with international issuances crossing $8 billion in 2022. Beyond environmental benefits, ESG Sukuk addresses broader challenges of financial inclusion, education, and healthcare, areas critical to achieving Pakistan’s development priorities and the UNSDG.
