Islamabad January 16 2024: In November 2023, Pakistan’s Large Scale Manufacturing Industry (LSMI) experienced a 1.59 percent increase in output compared to November 2022 and a 3.63 percent increase compared to October 2023.
Nevertheless, the overall Large Scale Manufacturing Sector exhibited a negative growth of 0.80 percent during July-November 2023-24 when compared to the corresponding period last year.
The Wearing Apparel sector demonstrated substantial growth of 27.8 percent in November, contributing 4.48 percent to the overall manufacturing growth. According to the data country manufactured 8.2 million dozen of garments in November compared with production of 6.2 million dozen units in the same period last year. During the period from July to November country manufactured 36.6 million dozens which is 21 percent higher to the same period last year.
The Pharmaceutical sector recorded a growth of 23.6 percent in the same month, contributing 1.14 percent to the overall index. In contrast, machinery and equipment production nearly doubled in November, making a 0.26 percent contribution to the overall growth, albeit due to its relatively small weight.
