Karachi March 2 2023: Pakistan Central Bank has no intentions to link the dollar exchange rate to Afghan border as such rate doesn’t exist officially, according to Governor State Bank of Pakistan.
Governor was speaking to banks treasury and analyst personnel on explaining the decision of increase in policy rate.
He added, “As a central bank we cannot follow any grey market rate and refutes all rumors regarding linking of dollar exchange rate with Afghan border rate.”
The conclusion of the ongoing 9th review under the IMF’s EFF will help address near-term external sector challenges.
Pakistan Rupee depreciates PKR 18.97 or 6.6 percent in Interbank to close the trading at PKR 285.08 on Thursday, according to Central Bank data. During the week Rupee lost PKR 25.09 or 8.8 percent against the dollar in Interbank.
In open market rupee is trading at 289.15 at PST 15:33 against yesterday closing of 274.15.
