Doha May 23, 2022: “We should not view it as a setback if talks with IMF extend a few days or weeks after Doha mission ends,” says Murtaza Syed, acting governor at State Bank of Pakistan.
Deputy Governor added, “as the program has been delayed therefore IMF has combine targets of next year budget with this review, finalization of which could take some time”.
On beginning of talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Finance Minister Miftah Ismail told that the government understood the current economic crisis and agreed that it would have to take “tough decisions” while mitigating the effects of inflation on middle to low-income groups.
