Islamabad April 16 2025: Pakistan Urea and DAP offtake was 307 and 49 thousand tonnes which decreased by 54.3 and 54.5 percent, respectively over March 2024 as wheat cultivation area drops this year on lower prices
Total nutrient offtake during March 2025 was 220 thousand tonnes, which decreased by 49.5 percent over March 2024. Nitrogen and phosphate offtake decreased by 51.7 and 41.5 percent, respectively while potash offtake increased by 19.5 percent.
Cumulative Fertilizer Offtake during Rabi 2024-25 (Oct- Mar) Cumulative nutrient offtake during Rabi 2024-25 (Oct-Mar) was 2,324 thousand tonnes, which decreased by 8.5 percent compared to Rabi 2023-24. Nitrogen and phosphate offtake decreased by 10.3 and 2.3 per cent, respectively while potash offtake increased by 14.8 percent. Urea offtake during Rabi 2024-25 (Oct-Mar) remained 3,103 thousand tonnes (12 percent less than Rabi 2023-24) whereas DAP offtake was 847 thousand tonnes (3.3 percent less than Rabi 2023-24).
This decrease in urea offtake may be attributed to: (i) reduction of wheat area by 7 percent compared to last year; (ii) less financial resources with small / medium farmers due to substantially low wheat price as compared to cost of production during Rabi 2023-24; (iii) the imported 220 thousand tonnes urea was sold by the companies to dealers in Feb-Mar 2024 that was in addition to normal domestic urea offtake.
