Islamabad February 2 2023: Pakistan trade deficit decreased 6.9 percent during the month of January to USD 2,645 million when compared to the previous month, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
As per the latest data released, exports stood at USD 2,211 million, the lowest number for any month since May 2021, while Imports were USD 4,856 million during January 2023.
The data showed that exports during January 2023 were 4.41 percent lower than exports of December 2022 and 15.42 percent lower compared to exports of January 2022.
The data showed that imports during January 2023 were 5.78 percent lower than imports of December 2022 and decreased by 19.55 percent compared to imports of January 2022.
Trade deficit decreased by 6.90 percent during the month of January 2023 when compared with data of the corresponding month last year.
Moreover, trade deficit also decreased by 31.97 percent during the period from July to January 2023 to USD 19,632 million when compared with data of the corresponding period last year.
Exports during the period from July to January 2023 decreased by 7.16 percent to USD 16,469 million when compared with the same period last year while imports during the same period decreased by 22.53 percent to USD 36,101 million.
