Islamabad June 15 2023: Cyclone BIPORJOY in the Arabian Sea is still heading towards the coastal areas of Pakistan and India and will hit the coastal area of Pakistan on Thursday afternoon.
According to NDMA, the natural disaster management agency in Pakistan, Bipar Joy has been moving towards the northeast for the past six hours, the cyclone is 247 km away from the south of Karachi, and the cyclone Kati is 178 km away from Bandar.
According to the NDMA, the wind speed is 160 km per hour in the center and periphery of the storm, while the sea around the center of the storm is very rough, and the waves around the center of the storm are up to 30 feet.
According to NDMA, on the afternoon of June 15, the storm will pass between Kati Bandar and Indian Gujarat. When the storm hits the coast, the wind speed can be 100 to 120 km per hour, and the speed of 140 km per hour is also possible. are
According to the NDMA, due to the possible impact of the cyclone, there is a possibility of rainfall in Tharparkar, Badin and Thatta districts and Karachi division.
NDMA says that so far more than 81 thousand people have been shifted to safe place while according to PDMA Sindh, around 75 relief camps have been set up by the local administration. With the help of Pakistan Army, Navy and Rangers, around 73 thousand people have been shifted to safe camps from Thatta, Sajawal, Badin so far.
Food and medical facilities are being provided in the camps and all relevant institutions are on high alert in view of the possible impact of the storm.
