Multan September 3 2024: Pakistan Seed Cotton (Phutti) equivalent to 1.225 million bales have reached ginning factories across Pakistan till August 31, 2024, which is 59.7 percent when compared with arrival of 3.041 mn bales in the same period last year.
These figures are even lower than 1.539mn bales recorded during the same period in the year impacted by flooding.
According to a fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued to media on Tuesday, Punjab ginning factories recorded cotton arrival figures of 452,855 bales while arrivals to ginneries in Sindh recorded at 773,091 bales out of which 74 percent comes from Sanghar district alone. Arrivals in Baluchistan were recorded at 30,450 bales.
Cotton arrival in Punjab are down 57.6 percent while that of Sindh are down 60.8 percent when compared to the arrivals of last year during the same period.
Exporters/traders bought 400 cotton bales while textile sector bought total 1,171,982 bales. Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has not yet started procuring cotton in 2024-25, says the report. As many as 53,564 unsold bales stock was present.
