Islamabad August 11 2023: As per the latest data shared by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), car sales plunged by 64.3 percent year on year to 3,702 units during the month of July 2023.
Car sales are affected by number of factors including issues in LC openings, lower purchasing power of consumers and record high interest rates.
Honda able to sold only 208 units of Civic and City which is 91 percent year on year when compared to the sales of July 2022. Honda sold 286 units of BRV during July 2023, which are more than double when compared with the last year sales. Overall sales of Honda Cars decreased by 80.1 percent year on year to 494 units.
Suzuki cultus sales hit the most among Pak Suzuki variants by 73 percent year on year to 177 units from 661 units. While Bolan sales were down by 59 percent year on year to 146 units during July 2023 from 353 units. Sales of Alto also declined by 69 percent to 1,440 units compared to 4,618 units in July 2022. Overall sales of Pak Suzuki Motor decreased by 63 percent year on year to 2,444 units during July 2023.
Combined sales of Corolla and Yaris decreased by 38 percent year on year to 1,067 units during July 2023. Sales of Fortuner and Hilux also decreased by 53 percent year on year to 301 units. Overall sales of Indus Motor Company decreased by 42 percent year on year to 1,368 units.
Sales of Tucson tripled in July 2023 to 328 units when compared to the sales of July 2022. Hyundai sold 71 units of Porter during July 2023, which is lower by 27 percent year on year. Overall sales of Hyundai increased by 183 percent year on year to 569 units.
Sazgar sold 122 units and 13 units of Haval and BAIC compares with sales of 5 units of BAIC in July 2022.
