Karachi June 17 2022: Pakistan attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) of USD 141mn during the month of May 2022 according to the data published by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
These flows are down by 29% year on year compared to a net inflow of USD 199mn during May 2021 and down 17% month on month.
This has caused FDI to decrease by 5% YoY to USD 1,597mn, during 11MFY22
.
China remained the largest investor with a net FDI of USD 373mn during 11MFY22 compared with USD 720mn during the same period last year.
United States remained the second-largest investor with a net FDI of USD 241mn during 11MFY22 compared with USD 122mn during the same period last year.
During 11MFY22, a major investment was poured into the Power sector (USD 567mn) followed by Financial Business Sector (USD 373mn) and Oil and Gas Exploration (USD 188mn).
