Islamabad February 28 2023: Judge Zafar Iqbal of the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Imran Khan on the basis of non-appearance in the case related to the Toshah Khana reference.
A reference has been sent to the court regarding the Election Commission disqualifying Imran Khan for taking watches and other goods from the Tosha Khana and not declaring them among his assets, as well as taking action against him under the Criminal Code. In this case, Imran Khan was supposed to be charged on February 7, but Imran Khan has not yet appeared in any hearing.
His lawyer in the case, Ali Bukhari, appeared in the court on Tuesday morning and requested to adjourn the hearing for five days. He said that Imran Khan has to appear in two courts in the judicial complex today, so he will not be able to appear in this court.
When Ali Bukhari requested to adjourn the hearing for five days, Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal said, “How is it possible that if the accused appears in the judicial complex, then there will be no time for this court.” Indictment is to be filed here, come here, indictment is filed and then go away.
The lawyer of the Election Commission also opposed the adjournment of the hearing and said that Imran Khan does not want to appear in the court.
On this, Ali Bukhari said that if Imran Khan comes out of the judicial compound during court hours, he will appear. After that, the court adjourned the hearing, however, the court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for him as he did not appear in the court within the stipulated time.
