Jerusalem October 6 2022: Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz instructed the country’s military to prepare for a possible escalation of activities at its border with Lebanon, citing “developments” linked to maritime demarcation talks.
Gantz asked military leaders at a weekly assessment of the security situation to prepare for both offensive and defensive efforts in the northern part of the nation, according to a text message from the ministry.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid earlier on Thursday told negotiators to reject changes that Lebanon was requesting in a US-brokered draft proposal to demarcate the maritime border between the two countries.
