Islamabad July 9 2023: According to Pakistan Commission Indus Water, about 185,000 cusecs of water has been released by India from Ujh Barrage (Ravi River), according to NDMA, Pakistan’s national disaster management agency.
According to the NDMA statement, last year India released 173 thousand cusecs while about one-third of the released water, i.e. 60 thousand cusecs, reached the Jassar (gauging point on the Ravi River) due to which the flow of water increased.
“Considering the previous record, about 65,000 cusecs are likely to arrive in the next 20-24 hours,” NDMA said. Because of which, a low flood condition is expected in the Ravi River at Jasar.
On the instructions of NDMA, the concerned administration is monitoring the sensitive areas, especially the Marala headworks on the Chenab river and the Jassar site on the Ravi river, till July 20.
The public has been appealed to be constantly aware of the progress and latest situation of the rains.
