Islamabad June 11 2022: In the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23, government increased the Capital Tax Gain on securities by 2.5% to 15% for the holding period less than one year.
But for the holding period of more than one year and less than two year the CGT will be taxed at a rate of 12.5% which is same as in the previous budget.
For a holding period of more than two years and greater than three years the CGT will be levied at a rate of 10%, for more than three years and less than four the rate will be 7.5% and for holding period exceeds four years but does not exceed five years the CGT will be 5%.
Where the holding period exceeds five years but does not exceed six years the rate of CGT will be 2.5% and Where the holding period exceeds six years the rate is zero percent.
Future commodity contracts entered into by members of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange the tax rate on Capital Gain will be 5%.
