Islamabad August 22 2022: Forecasting Division (FFD) has forecasted a Very High to Exceptionally High Level Flooding is likely in the Hill Torrents of DG Khan Division and in Rivers/ Nullahs of Eastern Balochistan from 23 to 26 August, 2022.
Flows from Hill Torrents of DG Khan Division may rise Taunsa flows up To High to Very High flood level from 23 to 26 August, 2022 and urban flooding is also expected in Sindh during the same period.
Furthermore, High to very High-level flooding is expected in River Kabul at Nowshera and Tributaries of Rivers Kabul & Indus.
All concerned Federal Ministries / Departments, PDMAs Punjab/ Sindh/ KP, Respective Irrigation Departments, Respective District Administrations / DDMAs, Municipal / City Administrations are advised to ensure following:
a. Identification of vulnerable points / at-risk communities and devise mitigation measures.
b. Maintain enhanced alert level / monitoring of developing situation to reduce reaction / response times.
c. All civic agencies / rescue services (Rescue 1122 / Fire Brigade / Ambulance / Civil Defense) to remain alert and ensure availability of personnel and equipment in at-risk areas during the forecasted period.
d. People living along the banks of Rivers Indus and in vicinity of Hill Torrents to be sensitized about expected increase of water flows.
e. Timely evacuation of at-risk population from low-lying / flood prone areas as per Evacuation Plans and ensure availability of shelters, food and medicines in those shelter camps.
f. Locals / farmers / cattle herders be forewarned to shift cattle away from low lying areas adjacent to Rivers Indus and in vicinity of Hill Torrents.
g. Restrict vehicle movement in low lying / at-risk location, in the vicinity of Hill Torrents areas.
h. Provision of POL for back-up generators at water pumping stations and timely pre-placement of de-watering equipment to flooding.
i. Provision of relief / medical supplies to affectees in timely manner.
j. Coordinate with concerned departments for clearance of roads in case of any blockage / obstruction, water logging and pre-placing of necessary emergency equipment at vulnerable / appropriate locations.
k. Travelers and Tourists are forewarned about risks posed at flood vulnerable locations and may be diverted to safe lay-by / waiting areas with sufficient supply of water / food and essential medicines in case of adverse / dangerous road conditions by Police, NH&MP and Local Administrations.
l. In case of any eventuality, special SITREP / update be shared immediately with NDMA
