ISLAMABAD February 10 2022: Pakistan’s overall fiscal deficit in the first six months of the current fiscal year increased to 1.2 per cent of GDP or PKR 1,372 billion, which is 21 percent higher than last year’s six months of PKR 1,138 billion.
The total revenue in first six months of current fiscal year has increased by 18 percent to PKR 3,956 billion compared to PKR 3,351 billion in first months of last year.
FBR taxed in first six months of current fiscal year has increased by 32 percent to PKR 2,920 billion compared to PKR 2,210 billion in first months of last year. The rise in FBR taxes is triggered by 23 percent increase in direct taxes to PKR 1,020 billion in first six months of current fiscal year. Indirect taxes also increased by 38 percent to PKR 1,900 billion.
Total expenditure in first six months of current fiscal year has also increased by 19 percent to PKR 5,328 billion compared to PKR 4,489 billion in first months of last year.
The rise in total expenditure is triggered by 16 percent increase in current expenditure to PKR 4,676 billion in first six months of current fiscal year.
Mark-up on domestic debt decreased by 3 percent to PKR 1,453 billion while foreign debt mark-up increased by 19 percent to PKR 140 billion.
