Islamabad October 2 2024: In September 2024, the country’s exports were increased by 13.5 percent to $2.805 billion while trade deficit increased by 20.35 percent to $1.780 billion as, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Imports for the same month were $4.585 billion, compared to $4.509 billion in September 2023. This reflects a 16.08% increase in imports compared to the same month last year.
Month-on-month, the trade deficit increased by 1.89% in September 2024, with exports growing by 1.56% and imports rising by 1.69%.
For September 2024, exports were $2.805 billion, up from $2.762 billion in August 2024, while imports were $4.585 billion, slightly higher than the $4.509 billion recorded in August 2024.
The trade deficit expanded by 4.2% in the first quarter of the current financial year (2023-24) compared to the same period last year.
From July to September 2024-25, local exports grew by 14.1%, reaching $7.875 billion compared to $6.9 billion in the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Meanwhile, imports increased by 9.86%, totaling $13.310 billion, up from $12.115 billion in the same period last year.
