Lahore May 31 2022: The Lahore High Court has directed the Election Commission to take a final decision on the issue of reserved seats in the Punjab Assembly within two days after which notices have been issued by the Election Commission for hearing on Thursday.
It may be recalled that 25 PTI members were disqualified by the Election Commission on May 23 for voting for PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz in the Punjab Assembly. Five of these MPAs were part of the Assembly in reserved seats.
The PTI is of the view that the new MPAs nominated by the party should be notified immediately in place of the five MPAs who were disqualified from the reserved seats.
The Lahore High Court had yesterday sought a reply from the Election Commission on the PTI’s request. However, a three-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commission will hear the case on June 2, according to a statement issued by the commission.
