Islamabad September 15 2022: In yesterday’s meeting of the Election Commission under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja, it has been decided that the by-elections for the provincial and national assemblies in Pakistan will be held on October 16.
In addition to the members of the Election Commission, the Secretary Election Commission and other senior officers participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Election Commission was informed that for the polling of Constituencies NA 157 Multan, PP 139 Sheikhupura, PP 209 Khanewal, and PP 241 Bahawalnagar, the Election Commission had fixed the date of October 9 through a notification, but now that day is expected to be Eid Mila-ul-Nabi. Therefore, the Election Commission should change the date.
Keeping in view the expected date of Eid Mila-ul-Nabi and the convenience of the voters, the Election Commission has decided that the polling in the said constituencies will be held on October 16 so that the voters can exercise their right to vote easily.
After a meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Interior, the Election Commission decided that polling for the eight constituencies of the National Assembly will also be held on October 16.
When the constituencies are to be polled, they include NA 22 Mardan, NA 24 Charsadda, NA 31 Peshawar, NA 45 Karam, NA 108 Faisalabad, NA 118 Nankana Sahib, NA 237 Malir, NA 239 Korangi Karachi.
