Islamabad November 21 2021: Based on the information provided by Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G), NEPRA is set to increase electricity prices by PKR 6.1060 per unit for the month of January 2022 due to high fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
Based on the information the provided by CPPA the actual fuel charges for the EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of January 2022 worked out to be PKR 12.6184 per unit which are PKR 6.106 per unit higher than reference tariff.

During the month, fuel cost increased by 78 percent year on year due to in higher reliance on Residual Fuel Oil (RFO). RFO composition in the generation mix increased to 14.7 percent during the month of January 2022.
NEPRA has provided reference fuel price of PKR 6.521 per unit as per decision of the Authority for EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of January 2022, as proposed by CPPA-G.
However, the final decision by NEPRA will be taken on November 30 after the hearing of all stakeholders.
