Islamabad April 19 2022: Based on the information provided by Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G), NEPRA is set to increase electricity prices by PKR 3.1574 per unit for the month of March 2022 due to high fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
Based on the information the provided by CPPA the actual fuel charges for the EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of March 2022 worked out to be PKR 9.3869 per unit which is PKR 3.1574 per unit higher than reference tariff.
During the month, fuel cost increased by 66.2 percent year on year due to in higher reliance on Residual Fuel Oil (RFO). During the month, country generated 1,106 GWh of electricity on RFO.
NEPRA has provided reference fuel price of PKR 6.2295 per unit as per decision of the Authority for EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of March 2022, as proposed by CPPA-G.
However, the final decision by NEPRA will be taken on April 27nd after the hearing of all stakeholders.
