Islamabad September 19 2022: Based on the information provided by Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G), NEPRA is set to increase electricity prices by PKR 0.2192 per unit for the month of August 2022 due to high fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
Based on the information provided by CPPA the actual fuel charges for the EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of August 2022 worked out to be PKR 10.1126 per unit which is PKR 0.2192 per unit higher than reference tariff.
During the month, fuel cost increased by 57 percent year on year due to higher cost of generation on all fuels despite lower reliance on furnace oil. During the month, country generated 1,021 GWh of electricity on RFO compared with 1,628 GWh generation in the same period last year. Electricity generation cost on RFO was PKR 35.6 which is 95 percent higher in August 2022 when compared with the same period last year.
In August, RLNG based power plants generated electricity at PKR 24.7 per unit, which is 84 percent higher when compared with last year. Electricity cost on coal increases to PKR 20.5 per unit which is 127 percent higher when compared with the same period last year.
NEPRA has provided reference fuel price of PKR 9.8934 per unit as per decision of the Authority for EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of August 2022, as proposed by CPPA-G.
However, the final decision by NEPRA will be taken on September 29th after the hearing of all stakeholders.
