Islamabad October 21 2023: Based on information from the Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G), NEPRA is poised to raise electricity rates by PKR 0.5471 per unit for September 2023 due to the high fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
However, this demanded increase is 70 percent lower than PKR 1.829 per unit DISCOs sought for month of August 2023.
As per CPPA’s data, the actual fuel charges for EX-WAPDA DISCOs in September 2023 amounted to PKR 7.6182 per unit, marking a PKR 0.5471 per unit increase from the reference tariff.
Nevertheless, NEPRA has established a reference fuel price of PKR 7.0711 per unit for EX-WAPDA DISCOs for September 2023, following CPPA-G’s proposal.
The final decision by NEPRA is expected on November 1st 2023, after considering input from all stakeholders
