Karachi February 24 2022: The current account deficit rose to USD2.6bn in January 2022 from USD1.9bn in December 2021 as per data released by State Bank of Pakistan.
This higher current account deficit is largely due to imports in kind that are fully financed. Excluding these, the deficit would have been around $1bn lower in Jan22.
