Islamabad Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjamand has accepted the acquittal plea of former SECP Chairman Zafar Hijazi in the Chaudhary Sugar Mills record tampering case.
The FIA had registered a case in July 2017 for allegedly tampering with the records of Chaudhary Sugar Mills.
According to the text of the FIR, Zafar Hijazi tampered with the records of Chaudhary Sugar Mills as Chairman SECP.
The statements of three SECP officers, who became promissory witnesses, were made part of the chargesheet, who said that the then chairman Zafar Hijazi pressured them into tampering with the records.
It was stated in the acquittal that on December 17, 2014, Zafar Hijazi was appointed as the Chairman of SECP.
Both the cases related to money laundering and investigation of Chaudhary Sugar Mills date back to 2013 before his appointment and therefore do not make the case.
