Islamabad June 9, 2023: Pakistan announced 10% discounts for payment of restaurant bills through credit or debit cards, according to the finance minister.
“We are reducing sales tax from 15% to 5% for those who paid their bills at restaurants through debit and credit cards in order to promote digitalization and documentation of the economy,” says Ishaq Dar Finance Minister of Pakistan.
Services provided by restaurants including cafes, food (including ice-cream) parlors, coffee houses, coffee shops, deras, food huts, eateries, resorts and similar
cooked, prepared or ready-to-eat food service outlets etc. are proposed to be taxed at 5% if payment is made through debit or credit cards, mobile wallets or QR
scanning.
